Thank you all for your comments on my last post! I am feeling a lot better and less sad.  Just the usual tired.  Work is getting crazy again, and we’re trying to fit in all the Austin-y things we can before we leave.  It’s hard to believe that we have two weeks left here.  My drives to work are finite.  The boxes are accumulating in our dining room. It’s getting real!

Yesterday I went running at one of my favorite trails, probably for the last time (FOR NOW! Who knows, maybe we can live here again one day…and can buy a house here if we find a giant pot of money somewhere! AUSTIN IS EXPENSIVE.)

This was the first trail I explored when I moved here back in 2008. Definitely a lot more populated now than it was back then. I ran…4 miles? 5 miles? I don’t know, but we are actually having a mild summer and I didn’t feel like collapsing from heat exhaustion during my run.  So, win.

I’m still having a hard time focusing on which projects I want to sit down and complete, which is pretty representative of where my brain is at right now.  This weekend, I decided to start on the Flatiron Shawl.  I wanted a way to use up some skeins in my stash.  I was also really inspired by Bonny Knit’s beautiful version of the Find Your Fade shawl.  This is such a gorgeous pattern, but I’m just not at that level of knitting…so I was happy to find a crochet version of a fade shawl!

Initially I was going to use the following skeins for the shawl (recognize one of them? Haha).

I liked these colors, but the yarns were all at different blends, so I wasn’t sure how that would look. I decided to stick with one yarn designer for consistency. I happened to have several skeins from Teeny Button hanging around.

These colorways are gorgeous, but I’m just not sure if the two light colors will fade together very well. I think the middle two are perfect, but it’s just the one on the far left that may not work with the rest of the shawl.

But I’ve already started it and don’t feel like frogging it.

Here it is worked up next to what is supposed to be the “medium” colored yarn. I don’t know, I don’t know. What do you all think?  The second skein does have similar yellow tones as the one I’m working up now (called “The Owlery”), so I think they may work? I don’t want to buy more yarn (well, I DO, but I also want to save money).  But it ISSSSS my birthday on Friday, so hmm. Hmm.  HMMM.
